Usage of Do/Does

  • He, she, it or name – does
  • I, we, you, they – Do
  • She does

  • Name & name – Do
  • Julia does

Regular verb forms

  • V1 = Study, V2 = Studied, and V3 = Studied
  • Verb form 1st

Irregular verb forms

  • V1 = Speak, V2 = Spoke, V3 = Spoken
  • Write, wrote, written
  • Go, went, gone
  • Definition: it describes habitual actions, facts, and truths.

Sentence structure

  • Positive = Subject + V1 + Object
  • Negative = Subject + Do not/Does not + V1 + Object
  • Interrogative = Do/Does + Subject + V1 + Object?
  • Negative Interrogative = Don’t/Doesn’t + Subject + V1 + Object?

Positive Sentences (Habitual action)

  • She goes to school every day.
  • BBC News publishes new articles a week.

Truths & Scientific Facts

  • Spanish people speak English as a second language
  • The Sun rises in the East

Future scheduled sentences in Simple Present Tense

  • Our flight takes off at 9 o’clock tonight.
  • The Summer vacation starts on 1st June.

Negative Sentences

  • Spanish doesn’t have English as its native language.
  • The Sun doesn’t rise in the North.

Interrogative Sentences (question version)

  • Does she live in the North of America?
  • Do they know about us?
  • Do you and I go to the party tonight?

Interrogative Sentences with (questions word)

  • Why does she live in the USA?
  • Where do they plan to play Cricket?

Negative Interrogative Sentences

  • Don’t they cancel their flights for us?
